The Greensboro communities present more to residents than just historical relevance. The Greensboro populace welcomes new residents with their Southern hospitality of food, sports and music. Approximately 48,000 residents enjoy local sporting events and musical performances at the Greensboro Coliseum, including the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament in March. With a flourishing arts community, the city is also home to the Carolina Theatre, Greensboro Symphony Orchestra and the Greensboro Opera Company. The Eastern Music Festival, an internationally known classical music event, is held every summer on the campus of Guilford College.
In addition, despite the new developments, Greensboro remains green with 170 parks that cover 3,500 acres and more than 65 miles of hiking, biking and jogging trails. Several Greenways dot the landscape for an active lifestyle and community meeting places. Numerous points of interest are available to residents, including touring the wine country of the Yadkin Valley, stroll through the Bog Garden, Bicentennial Gardens or mountain biking in Bur-Mill Park. Check out many of the art galleries downtown or see contemporary art at the Weatherspoon Art Museum. For fun with the kids, explore the Greensboro Children’s Museum, the Emerald Point Water Park or tour the Nature Science Center.
